Assembly Day

Today we had a kickoff assembly for the Terry Fox run on Friday. Kindergarten is very excited to participate in the run. We also went for a color walk outside and tried to find some fall colors. We used paint chips to help us match 5 fall colors: red, yellow, orange, purple and brown.  Please ask your child what color they were looking for and what they were able to find outside.  When we came inside we made a bar graph of our favorite fall colors.  We practiced coloring leaves (staying inside the lines) and then practiced cutting the leaves out.  Cutting can be a challenging skill for us to master in Kindergarten.  Please provide your child with many opportunities to practice their cutting skills at home.

We are collecting Toonies for Terry. If you are interested in donating, please send a toonie with your child. AM Kindergarten will be participating in the terry Fox run on Friday morning. Painting Fall Trees

We had gym where we pretended to walk around the gym like different animals and worked on catching a ball. We read the book "Tree" by Britta Teckentrup and did a guided drawing of a fall tree. We painted the tree trunk and branches with acrylic paint and some of us even got started on painting the leaves with red, orange, yellow, purple, and brown paint and clothespins and cotton balls. We had centres as well. AM students got to share their happiness museum items and PM students visited the playground.
- Ask your child to show you how to use a variety of vertical and diagonal lines to draw a tree.
- Ask your child to describe our Fall Basket poem.
