Halloween

We dressed up today (and looked amazing). We had gym and did lots of Halloween activities. We made halloween puppets, and had many different halloween-themed centres including pumpkin investigations (does it sink/ float?), ghost sketching with chalk, making haunted houses, and other activities with bugs, skeletons, and pumpkins! We also counted the seeds in one of our pumkins and discovered that there were 588 all together.

- AM Kindergarten attends school this Friday, Nov.2 / No School for PM Kindergarten

- Scholastic book orders due November 1st.

- For the month of November, we are focussing on our community. We are looking for one 5x7 photo of your child standing in front of the entire outside of your house. Please make sure the entire house is visible in the photo. We will be using these photos for an art project in the near future. Please print and have your child bring in this photo by November 5th (hopefully before the snow hits)!

Pumpkins!

Today was a very busy day! We started with arrival centres and then transitioned to reading a book about pumpkins. We practiced our "5 Little Pumpkins" song and even learned a new one called "The Witch's Brew." We did some math where we figured out a word problem and we also did some new pumpkin related centres. We ended our day by drawing some beautiful pumpkins.

- Ask your child to draw a pumpkin at home.
- Ask your child to show you 2 ways to show 5 green and red leaves.

Journals

AM students had their first fire drill today. They did a fantastic job and stayed calm the whole time. They also read the book A Tree is Nice by Janice Udry and worked in their writing journals to draw and write about why they think a tree is nice. We had many ideas such as, "a tree is nice because it gives shade" and "a tree is nice because it gives us fruit." PM students reflected on their bird sanctuary field trip and drew 4 things that they liked about the field trip. The yellow school bus and the deer was a popular choice! PM students also had Mrs. Parker visit them to introduce us to our Glenbow Ranch field trip tomorrow.

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (PM)

The PM students visited the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary today. The weather was beautiful and we were very fortunate to see many birds today and even a deer! Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who made our experience amazing.

We hope you all have a great weekend.

PM Kindergarten will be going to the Glenbow Ranch on Tuesday, October 23rd and AM Kindergarten will be there on Wednesday, October 24th. We need to have all signed field trip forms back by Monday.

- There is a lost and found in front of the office. We will be putting all Kindergarten lost items there starting today. If your child has lost items, please visit the office (through the front doors) after students have been dismissed to find any items your child may have lost. Thank you.

- Please make sure that all of your child's belongings are labeled with first and last names as our lost and found bin continues to grow. This includes mittens, hats, gloves, jackets, snow pants, and boots.

- Please send back the colored folders and any forms.
