Happy Holidays!

On Thursday, we worked with our grade 3/4 buddies and created reindeers using our hand and foot prints. Thank you to our buddies for helping us out. We had a great time with you. We also read lots of Christmas and Winter themed books and had centers. PM students had Christmas Caroling as well which included a choir performance and a reading of the Polar Express by staff.

Students brought home their indoor shoes for cleaning and a little gift from us teachers!

We will see everyone back on Tuesday, January 8th 2019. We hope everyone enjoys their holidays and gets plenty of rest, joy, and peace. Happy New Year!

Don't forget to read everyday with your child. :)

Making Pitas

We had a great visit from Byblos Bakery today and we learned a lot about Canada's Food Guide, healthy food, and how to make our own pitas. It was delicious and we all had a great time learning and eating. We worked in our writing journals after a long time and wrote about our favorite winter activities. We drew pictures and we attempted to use letters by sounding out our words along with swirly writing. Students enjoy opening presents, sledding, skating, decorating trees, making a snowman, and more during the winter. Mr. Kelly also visited us today and showed us how to make a snowman. Don't forget to wear your pyjamas tomorrow!

Thank you once again to our amazing parent volunteers who have been so helpful. We love having you here and appreciate all the help. Thank you! Thank you!!

There is no school this Friday, December 21st.
Winter Break: Friday, December 21st - Tuesday, January 8th.

Important Updates and Reminders:

- Lost and Found is being donated at the end of the school day tomorrow.

- Indoor shoes will also be coming home tomorrow.

- EHS learning commons books must be returned by Tomorrow. We have lots of overdue books, unfortunately so please check at home and return the books to us TOMORROW.

- Students are invited to wear their pajamas to school on tomorrow, December 20. There will also be caroling in the afternoon that day.

- We are worried about injuries taking place due to students running around and chasing one another on the compound after dismissal. If parents can ensure that students stay with them after they have been high-fived and dismissed by the teacher- that would help us out a lot! Thanks for always being so cooperative.

V is for Vet... B is for Baker.

The Blue and Yellow students visited the Vet clinic today. We learned the importance of vets in our community and how they take care of our pets by keeping them healthy. We saw X Rays, teeth, and even got to look at fleas from a microscope. All students printed the letter B today. Inspired by our visit from Byblos Bakery tomorrow... B is for Baker. The PM students joined the rest of the school for some caroling today and had a great time.

Just a reminder that BYBLOS is visiting tomorrow. Please see note below and send your child with fillings for their pitas.

Important Updates and Reminders:
- EHS learning commons books must be returned by the end of this week, before the holidays. We have lots of overdue books, unfortunately so please check at home and return the books to us ASAP.

- Students are invited to wear their pajamas to school on Thursday, Dec.20 and there will be caroling in the afternoon that day.

- Please see the note below regarding Byblos visiting us tomorrow Wednesday and remember to send students with their own fillings. Students will NOT be sharing so please send enough for your child only.  Please email your child's responsibility should you have questions or concerns.

Hi everyone,

We are excited to have a registered dietician come in next week on Wednesday, Dec.19 and make pitas with us! Byblos bakery will be supplying the pitas and we need you to supply the fillings for your student only. This will also serve as their snack for that day.

Each student will be required to bring their own fillings to fill one half pita. Items need to be pre-washed, chopped and/or sliced and sent to school with your child. Please send items in a small container with a lid in their snack bags. Please only send toppings/pita fillings that your child would actually eat.

Pita fillings could include any of the following:
  • shredded cheese
  • lettuce (chopped)
  • tomatoes (diced)
  • cucumbers (sliced)
  • green or red peppers (sliced)
  • bananas (adults will help slice them at school)
  • pineapple tidbits
  • pickles (sliced out of a jar)
  • cream cheese
  • ham or turkey (sliced and cut up)
  • pepperoni or salami
  • hummus
  • salad dressing (ie. ranch or italian)

Important Notes from Byblos Bakery:

The pitas are egg and nut FREE but may contain traces of milk products. If you have a student that is allergic to wheat or gluten, please have them bring in their own gluten free bread to make a sandwich.

As well, we will be using WOWBUTTER for something exciting and new for the students to try. The WOWBUTTER is egg/nut/gluten and dairy free but does contain soy.

Lastly, we are so lucky to have some complimentary real fruit pressed snack bars from KIND to go along with our “Can you find the REAL fruit?” section for the students to try. It’s literally pressed pineapple, kale and apples and tastes like a kale smoothie so they can have a taste of what a fruit bar without added sugar really tastes like.
