Shapes and Running for Reading

Both AM and PM kindergarten students participated in the EHS 'Running For Reading' today! Two AM students won a prize through a draw for participating and 2 PM students will be chosen to win tomorrow. Morning students continued working with 3D shapes. We took pictures using our iPads around the school after finding 3D shapes. We found spheres, cubes, cones, rectangular prisms, and even pyramids! PM students were introduced to 3D shapes. We sorted various 3d shapes and then combined our findings in a chart. Ask your child to identify some common household shapes using each 3D shape mentioned above. You can also provide them a drawing of a few 3d shapes and challenge them to transform them into something familiar. For example, a sphere can be turned into a ball, the Earth, or a balloon.

We are looking for two more volunteers to join us at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Please sign up if you are available to volunteer on Friday, May 31 here:

Grade 8 visit and 3D shapes!

AM Kindergarten and PM kindergarten had very different days today, which is rare!

AM Kindergarten began investigating 2D and 3D shapes. We did a scavenger hunt around the classroom and sorted different 3D shapes such as Cylinders, Cones, Cubes, and Spheres. We worked together to document our findings. Ask your child to identify some common household shapes using each 3D shape mentioned above. You can also provide them a drawing of a few 3d shapes and challenge them to transform them into something familiar. For example, a sphere can be turned into a ball, the Earth, or a balloon.

PM students drew day 13 of our caterpillar/almost butterfly friends. We learned more about butterflies and focussed on the life cycle. Grade 8 students from TMC visited us and helped us create our "self-puppets."

We are looking for two more volunteers to join us at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Please sign up if you are available to volunteer on Friday, May 31 here:

Ride to School on June 4th, 2019
Bike to School day is a growing campaign that was initiated in 2014 and with the coming of 2019's Bike to School day, has spread to plenty of schools and is expected to have thousands of kids riding their bikes to school on June 4th!
At Bike to School Day, getting kids active and engaged with the outdoors, their bikes, and each other is a huge goal of ours. With the digital world becoming more and more interlaced with our world, it is important to remember the small initiatives that can keep you healthy and grounded. Bike to school day is a project that encourages students and their parents to take part in and build a healthy lifestyle while also showing them that it is fun and beneficial to do so.

Thank you!
