A Zen day

Today we focussed on our feelings and emotions. We read the book, "The Feelings Book" by Todd Parr and reviewed the Zones of Regulation again. We played calming music and worked on Zentangles as well, where we used the four colors of the zones to draw lines and other designs. It was a very peaceful activity! Mrs. Southworth also visited us and talked to us about small vs medium vs big problems. We also started environmental print today. "Environmental print is the print of everyday life. It's the name given to the print that appears in signs, labels, and logos." We are creating a wall of such logos that students recognize- examples include a tim hortons sign cut out from a donut box, or a Fruitloops picture cut out of a flyer. Please see the picture of our wall! We have asked students to also bring print they can read such as cereal box labels cut out. McDonalds fries bag, etc. The possibilities are endless!

Ask your child:
- To show you what they may look like in the green, blue, yellow, or red zones.
- To explain small vs medium vs big problems.
- To show you how to make a Zentangle.

Do not forget to read the home reading books tonight and put them in your folder and backpack to exchange for a new book tomorrow.

This Friday, January 25th is a PM Friday. No school for AM Kindergarten.

Thanks!

Reminders:
- Home reading has now started. Home reading books travel between home and school in our colored folders so please ensure that we get them ASAP.  Students will not bring home a reading book without a folder.

- Our librarian, Ms. Carde will be sending e-mails to parents of students who have not yet returned a book that they borrowed prior to the holiday break. Please don't forget to send back any overdue books. Thanks!

- Send logos and labels students find around the house.
