Animal Research

We started working in our new animal research booklets. Students created books about wolves, grizzly bears, moose, and great horned owls. We started literacy centers again where we worked with Play-Doh, manipulatives, and played literacy games. We had centres and snack. AM students also had their first secret mission today and did a wonderful job! PM students are looking forward to receiving theirs tomorrow. These missions will help encourage a more kind and peaceful school and classroom environment.

We also learned that dried markers and other writing tools (highlighters, pens, mechanical pencils, markers, sharpies, all writing tool lids, etc.) can be recycled! Kindergarten is taking the initiative to start collecting any writing tools that we can no longer use in our classroom. This is better for our environment as they are made into new recycled products rather than ending up in the landfill. Some students sorted through all the markers at centres and pulled out any that we were dried up. We look forward to seeing where this goes and encourage families to also participate by sending us any writing tools they may have at home that are no longer working.

Please read carefully for important updates:

- We are in urgent need of plastic yogurt or sour cream lids for an upcoming exciting project. Please send us any extras you may have ASAP. We are looking for standard size lids so please see picture below for measurements. Thank you!

- We are beginning to collect writing tools in our classroom (highlighters, pens, mechanical pencils, markers, sharpies, all writing tool lids, etc.) to recycle them. Please feel free to send us any dried up or no longer useable writing tools you may have at home.

- A new sign up genius for upcoming swimming lessons [April 16, 17, 18, (Tuesday-Thursday) and 23, 24 (Tuesday- Wednesday)] has been created. You must have a valid police clearance done through our school. Please sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0E4CA8A82CA2FF2-kindergarten

- AM Kindergarten will be going on a community walk on Friday, April 5 and PM Kindergarten will be going the next Friday, April 12. We would love to have parent volunteers join us. Please watch your emails for more information from our lovely volunteer coordinators Angie Lang (AM) and Ashley Willetts (PM). Just a reminder that you will need a valid police clearance. Thank you.

We hope everyone had a nice and relaxing spring break!
